NaNoWriMo 2011

Novembro está a chegar, e já sabem o que isso significa: NaNoWriMo!

1 mês, 50.000 palavras, 1 novela -- em Novembro.

Temos o fórum oficial Tuga, eu sou uma das Municipal Liaisons, por isso os encontros de escrita do Porto vão acontecer sem dúvida, já temos vários lugares "chave" para nos encontrar: Café Guarani, Rota do Chá e outros.

Para quem não sabe o que é o NaNoWriMo, aqui fica alguma informação:

O que é o NaNoWriMo?

NaNoWriMo significa National Novel Writing Month. O objectivo deste evento é escrever uma novela de, no mínimo, 50.000 palavras. Qualquer língua, qualquer tópico, qualquer género é aceite. O que importa não é conseguir uma novela digna de um Nobel, mas sim chegar às 50.000 palavras. O prémio pela "vitoria"? Saber que se conseguiu. Sim, é verdade. Todo o desafio é feito numa base de "honra". Contas as palavras, dizes quantas são, e as pessoas acreditam em ti. Ninguém vai verificar se fizeste copy paste ou não. Não há juri a verificar qualidade, só quantidade importa -- a verificação é feita por meios electrónicos, e vitória é alcançada se se chegar às 50.000 palavras.

Isto é, basicamente, um exercício criativo, porque o NaNo deve ser sobre sentar-se ao computador à meia noite do dia 31 de Outubro e começar a escrever -- muitas vezes sobre um tópico que se decidiu nesse momento. Deve-se tentar escrever um rascunho -- e muitos autores conhecidos juntam-se ao Nano, usando os rascunhos que criam para de facto mais tarde criar livros baseados neles. É admitido fazer-se um layout com antecedência, bem como decidir tema e tópico e esboçar história e personagens com antecedência desde que não se ESCREVAM palavras que sejam reutilizadas directamente no texto do NaNo.

Várias pessoas comprovam que é perfeitamente possível alcançar o objectivo, mesmo tendo um emprego de 8 horas, filhos e casa para cuidar: basta escrever 1600 palavras por dia para se conseguir cumprir o objectivo (temos é que nos portar bem e escrever todos os dias).

A comunidade portuguesa continua a crescer, e é um bando de malucos à solta, o ideal para este tipo de coisas.

Quem é que se junta este ano? Huh? Vamos lá! Aquecer as canetas!

Quanto a mim, ano passado acabei com 2 Novelas e um total de 166.680 palavras.

Por isso, este ano vou desafiar-me e tentar 3 novelas, e ver se consigo passar o recorde de ano passado.

Entretanto, uma das novelas já tem titulo, sinopse e capa (feita por uma das Nanitas do fórum). Este ano, vou cyberpunk outra vez (e vou ter uma história de fodi--fadinhas, e uma de vampiros também).




Can a game be more real than reality?

Can the victories or losses that occur in-game be less meaningful, can in-character feelings and emotions be any less overwhelming?

Once, Elizabeth DeWynter would have said that reality is what we make of it, and in-game reality is, well, as much a reality as anything else -- just because something is all in your mind, doesn't mean it's less real. But then, the Accident left her damaged and severely traumatized, and the reality of High-Level gaming cut to her forever. It was a chapter from her life she didn't think she would open again. However, things took a dramatic turn as she received a mysterious email from her sister's private game account: "Search for Special Level A".

Except her sister, Ash, had been comatose for two years now, and as Elizabeth reads the e-mail, she is sitting by Ash's unmoving form at the Elysium Fields Hospital.

Once, they were both Master Gamers, ranked in the top echelons of Live Action Gaming. But the same accident that had left Elizabeth missing part of her hearing and her sense of taste, left her sister in her current state. And now, she is offered a devil's bargain: go against her better judgement, her family's wishes and her own need for survival by becoming an Upgrade (the only way for her to become an effective player again) or ignore this mysterious call and the possibility to shed some light into the past?

The Special Level A is supposed to be a legend, a prank pulled on newbie players who Log In for the first time. A mysterious level, more real than reality. It cannot be true. But this is Ash's personal account. The one only Elizabeth has access to.

What is the meaning of the mysterious message? Why would someone go through such an elaborate prank to get a retired Gamer back online? And what is the Army's interest in this? There is such a thing as coincidences, but when the man she once dreamt of, Commander Eric Walklate, enters the picture, Liz starts wondering just how much the odds can bend. Will figuring out this mystery be worth alienating her family, risking her life and suffering from prejudice from society against the "Enhanced Aberrations" that are the Upgrades? Is it worth her soul to discover exactly what happened to her and her sister so long ago?

Will she be reborn, or destroyed?

Em tempos que já lá vão obrigava-me a escrever cerca de 3000 palavras por dia para uma pequena brincadeira num fórum. Tal exercício, sem aquecimento prévio ocupava-me uma hora, hora e meia dependendo da musa.

Se não houver critério de grande qualidade e for tudo meia bola e força claro que é possível. Resta perguntar, para quê ou porquê, mas cada um lá terá os seus motivos.

Deviam era tentar escrever num teclado virtual duma tablete para ser mais exigente!

Com que objectivo? Dar uso ao Ipad, é? Para justificar a compra?

E para o NaNo escreve-se porque é divertido, porque é um desafio.

Há tabletes mais baratas.


Mas são feias e cheiram mal dos pés.

Já vi gajos a usarem teclados usb nos iPad. Gozei com eles e disse que com jeitinho ainda tinham um netbook tipo LEGO. Monta-desmonta.

Mas a sério? Escrever é um desafio? Queres trocar de emprego comigo? Por dia devo ser obrigado a escrever qualquer coisa como 10000 palavras e é quando não me dão os casos bicudos.

Dark roads: a portuguese steampunk novel featuring a short-story published for “Antologia de Contos Fanstásticos”. The limit for the Anthology was 6 pages, yet I combined it with another idea for a novel and together they make perfect sense. It features the story of a high-born woman, Adosinda, who was mistakenly buried alive. As she tries to adjust to an undead life, she builds a reputation of solving uncanny mysteries. Her work now is to find who has been killing innocent girls in a village near Sintra. Assassin’s priests, undead girls with few clothes and police vampires, “Dark roads” takes place in a steampunk Lisbon after the Earthquake of 1755.

She kissed me goodbye: the re-telling of the fairy tale “Hänsel & Gretel” as lesbian fiction. Hänsel & Gretel are German-twins emigrated to Portugal. As they both get in separate faculties, they face new challenges. Society presents them with numerous options and possibilities and as Hänsel hides his boyfriends, Gretel discovers that society is the witch and the world is the gingerbread house.

My aunt Emily: “You look exactly like your aunt Emily in those skirts.” “You have to be nice to your husband, look at aunt Emily. She was all pro-feminism and look what happened to her… She got a divorce because she didn’t do her chores.” Raised by a model to avoid, the narrator creates a past and version of her own of her aunt Emily. The uncertainties of becoming like her aunt or become the perfect girl, “My aunt Emily” shares two points of view of two women divided by society.

Sou gaja de letras e faço Roleplay online. Garanto-te que escrevo perto disso quando estou em dia de RP maciço - o meu recorde no NaNo de ano passado foram 20.000 palavras num dia

Mas... para além de um desafio é divertido fazer. Eu gosto de escrever histórias (por isso é que gosto tanto de RPG )

Gostava de ler a novela que escreveste para o Nano. Way of the Warrior. Está disponivel online?

Igdrasil, ainda não está escrita, vai ser escrita neste mês de novembro.

Da série "Senryaku", ainda só foi escrito o primeiro volume "Senryaku: The Art of War", no ano passado, mas esse apesar de ser no mesmo mundo, passa-se 50 anos antes, com personagens totalmente diferentes.

Está escrito em Inglês ou Português? bolas, gostei tanto do abstract da novela que queria já começar a ler...qual é o abstract do primeiro volume?

Vai ser escrito em Inglês. Eu escrevo sempre em Inglês porque é mais facil para mim massacrar a língua de outras pessoas.

Espero participar este ano. Não vai ser fácil conjugar o trabalho e a pós-graduação com a escrita, mas acredito que pode ser um desafio enriquecedor. Seria interessante a disponibilização dos trabalhos escritos pelos membros aqui do fórum em Dezembro.
